Minutes of Meeting held at Teuthill 17th October 2005
Present: Audrey Davies, John Knox, Annette Dobb, Margaret Collier, Maureen Parker,
Vincent Duff
John proposed that Vincent Duff should become a member of the committee (he was on holiday when the committee was formed). Annette seconded it.
Vincent was willing to loan the £128.00 to register the company until we could pay the money back when the bank account was open. He was also willing to pay the £3000.00 deposit if needs be.
It seems likely that we will be able to get help to fence the quarries off from Mersey forest or Hanson Trust.
The Environment Agency expected warning signs to be adequate for the quarries unless water accumulates in the bottom. Someone should be coming out to inspect the quarries. We can then get a public liability insurance. It was also suggested that a sign showing the quarries and paths be put up.
Audrey suggested that the spoil heap could perhaps be put back into the big quarry beside the path on the left if we could get someone to do it. That is the most dangerous pit.
Maureen and Audrey had delivered letters to everyone in Hill Road North and bottom end of Bates Lane but to date had no response.
Audrey and Margaret had seen the pistol shooting club still interested in buying the wood.
John had sent the form to Cheshire Rural Recovery Programme and had an acknowledgement. He had asked for £16,000.00. They will let us know after 20th October 2005.
Annette asked Mo for a copy of the Constitution so that she could send it off for registration.
Annette had enquired about opening a bank account before we had the registration form but doubt if we can do that. The Bank were ringing her on Tuesday.
Audrey had drafted a letter to Cholmondley and read it out. Mo to type and post tomorrow. Letter pointed out that we had only been offered the sale of the wood 2 weeks ago and had not had much time to acquire any funds but were doing everything we could.
Peter OConnor who lives in Portland Place had offered to do any accounting for us free of charge.
Audrey to draft an article with our telephone numbers to put in "Helsby to Hand". Mo had spoken to Sarah and she will put this in free of charge.
Mo also suggested we make and put up some posters as soon as we get a bank account. The farm shop, fish and chip shop, library etc and anywhere else we can find to put them.
John said there was a possibility that Mersey forests (Claire Mannim) might assist with management of the wood. Tel 01925 859602 [email protected]
Mike Wellman had said he would contact Mo last week but hadnt done so. John will phone him.
At the Helsby Planning Committee on Friday, attended by Annette and Mo, they were able to tell everyone about the purchase of the wood. Cllr Prof. Les Ford spoke to Mo after the meeting and subsequently his wife Janet phoned to give Mo two more contacts. Doug Percival 731427 (Frodsham National History Society) and Ralph Oultram, Vale Royal Borough Councillor from ECOnet. 01606 853543.She is also going to ask the Helsby Village Action Group if they will give us a donation.
Annette is going to contact the Hanson Group.
