| Untitled By Irish Flare I remember the once happy family, not as clearly as maybe Josh would, but I did remember it. My mother was always smiling, and my father never layed a hand on me, excpet to pat my head for doing something good, like actually watering the horses correctly. Well on my 12th birthday everything changed, for the worst. **FLASHBACK** "Amanda! Hurry up something happened." called Josh. I looked over at him from the saddle. He was pale and he looked like a walking corpse, with red eyes, he was crying. I jumped off Clover's back and ran towards him which brought me to the grave look on my fathers face. I staggered backwards with fright. "Poppa what happened?" I asked, afraid to know the reason. "Your mother passed away." he said grimly. I searched his face noticing that it wasn't as troubled as Josh's was. His voice carried an unusual tone, one that is hard to explain, it was as if he was happy that she was gone. I felt my blood drain from my face and I felt light headed. I turned and ran away, hoping to escape the pain, but it followed me instead. I ran blindly to a hawthorn tree in a far corner of our property. Josh followed at a slower pace. He placed a hand on my shoulder. "Amanda, ye couldn't of helped it, it was an accident." he tried to reasure me. I nodded slowly. "But Fathah's face told me somethin' different Josh. He looked almost Happy." i stuttred on the word happy. He sighed and pulled out two tickets from his pocket. "These were mums. SHe was planin on takin' ye ta America den sendin after me. The accident that occured wasn't an accident, fathah killed 'er. stabbed her in the back." I felt my eyes buldge. I took my ticket from Josh. "Go now Amanda, I'se will catch up with ye latah. Go to New Joisy or New York. I'se will look for ya." He said. I nodded and he handed me the reins of Clovers bridle. "Ride and don't look back." He told me. I silently took the reins and got on the horse. Josh hugged me. I started to cry but before i could protest in any sort of form he slapped Clovers hind legs sending him galloping off. I looked forward and didn't look back. I was going to the New World, the land of oppurtunties. |
