| What's your name? I was born Angela Marianna Mancini, but I hardly ever go by dat. It'd be too crazy ta hear a newsie call me my full name! I probably wouldn't respond. Do ya have a nickname? How'd ya get it? Athena's what I go by- named after da goddess of wisdom, warfare (too bad for any scabs), and da practical arts. How'd I get it? Well, thing is *slightly blushing*, I like goin' ta museums. One day I was goin' on and on about dis Ancient Greek exhibit, and about all of deir gods and goddesses. So everybody started ta tease me about knowin' more about da Ancient Greeks den even deir gods did. So I'm called Athena, one of da greatest Greek goddesses. What do ya look like? *glances down at herself* I guess I can hold my own in da looks department. Of course, da newsie garb ain't exactly silk and satin, but it gets me by. I usually wear a pair of chocolate corduroys, a light blue shirt wid da sleeves cut short, and navy blue suspenders. And of coise my cap! I'm a pretty average height, at 5'5", although I'm kinda thin- that comes from not eating enough, although most newsies should eat more den dey actually do. What color is your hair? *smiles brightly* One of my favorite attributes! It's a nice color, dis auburn that gets highlights in da sun. It's cut ta my shoulders, and I usually wear it down. What color are your eyes? Hazel, kinda unusually, which I like. What about your past? What was it like? No criminal records or anythin' right? Nope, at least not yet. *smiles mischieviously*. I'm actually the daughtah of a Romeo-and-Juliet-type couple. My mother was a high-class lady of English descent, who fell in love with my father, a poor Italian immigrant artist. Dey came togethah against all odds, and ended up havin' me. *beams again, but a moment later the smile fades* Everyt'ing was great for a while- but den my parents got pneumonia and died, leavin' me alone. My mother's family didn't want ta have anyt'ing ta do wid me, so I was basically left ta fend for myself. Aftah tryin' a few jobs (factory life jus' didn't woik for me), I joined da newsies. What about your personality? What's it like? As da daughtah of two extremely artistic parents (my dad was an artist and my mom wrote poetry), I can't get enough of creative stuff. I love readin' and writin' especially, along wid checkin' out new paintings and sneakin' inta da opera house ta catch da latest performance of La Boheme. Some people t'ink dat's pretty weird, but I can't help it. What else, hmmm... I'm a pretty easy- going person, I guess, and would rathah go wid da flow den rock da boat. It's easier for me ta write down my feelings den speak up about dem. I'm careful about oddah people's feelings and feel guilty whenevah people are fightin' in da lodgin' house, even if it doesn't involve me. I'm a real push- over, too, unless it comes to somet'ing I really care about. It's hard for me ta stand up for myself against a group of people. Do ya have any family still alive? Related to anyone I know? I have relatives in Italy who I've nevah met; dey probably don't even know I'm alive. As for my mother's family, well, dey live in the city but would probably ignore me if I evah tried ta sell dem a paper. It's not a favorite aspect of my life, but it's beddah den dasituations oddah newsies are in. Are ya gonna have any admirers hangin' around? *laughs* Actually, at this moment, I don't have my eye on anybody. But I'm always lookin'. I'll keep ya posted about any developments in my love life. Is dere anythin' else I need ta know before ya join da LH? Any weird habits or hobbies? Like I said befoah, I love ta read and write, and ta check out museums.
