Alright, my number one pick for 2003 is Basic. A classic whodunnit film which combines military and murder brilliantly. The way the film keeps your attention and is still able to surprise you several times shows that anyone could be bad or good in the hunt to discover the real story.
The runner-up this year is The Matrix Reloaded. 2003 was the year of Neo and his crew, however Reloaded was the better of the two movies released this year. The never before done fight scenes prove that the film follows its prequel well, and if to for sure have everyone wearing sunglasses and trench coats.
Taking the bronze is the much anticipated finale to one of the best trilogys ever made. The LOTR: The Return of the King continues the journey of Frodo and finally solves the mystery of the ring. I'm sure that all who see will be completely satisfied and hoping for Tolkien to rise and continue the story.
A surprise hit is the fourth pick of the year with The Last Samurai. Picturing Tom Cruise as a samurai doesn't seem right, but the sheer beauty and perfect combat choreography in this film is enough to make the list. The film is wonderful and makes us Americans doubt our Western ways of battle.
Putting an end to the list is Disney's first PG-13 movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean. Following the tradition this year in that fighting movies make the top, is the swashbuckiling Johnny Depp as Capt Jack Sparrow whose great comedy and wonderful storyline (not to mention the HOTT girl)  makes this an instant classis.
