"HARLANHAVEN"
Was the prefix of
Harlan Hoel & Tom Stimpfig
First Formed in the mid 50's
It was Tom who built the Kennel Complex.
Tom also wrote a column for the
"American Cocker Magazine"
Harlan worked to breed a particular style of
"Cocker."

Concentrating on the
"ASCOB"
variety mainly.
Over the years there has been cockers bred carrying the
"Harlanhaven" prefix in all varieties.
As a young man Harlan was enchanted with the
geogous "Norbill Cockers".
The late Norma Warner from the
"Norbill Kennels" was his mentor.
The first home bred Champion to carry the
"Harlanhaven" prefix was a lovely silver dog
Ch. Harlanhaven High Hopes,
call name "Josh" finished in 1957.
He was the sire of 15 Champions,
6 of these were Parti colors.
Harlan chose to use

Norbills High N Mighty
as the sire for his
Harlanhaven Hopeful
she was his Foundation Bitch also a
Ch.Gravel Hill Gold Opportunity grandaughter,
for his choice as a stud dog, to build his
"Future" breeding stock for the kennels.
First bred to a son of Norbill High and Mighty namely
Ch. Rockcrest High Noon this breeding produced
Ch.Harlanhaven High Hopes
Hopeful was later bred to Norbills High and Mighty
this breeding produced the stunning black
Ch.Harlanhaven Hesiatation ,
she was not only a "Show Girl" but also
produced 5 Champions
Even today the "Norbill" look still is there
its a look of pure elegance and rare delicate beauty,
complete with Type & Balance
"Color accentuating a Classic Head"
coupled with balance.

There have been Harlanhaven Group Winners
such as
Ch.Harlanhaven's Handsome,
Ch.Harlanhaven's Hesitation
a true Champion in her own right,
who went on to become the
"Top Winning Bitch in all "colors" in 1959.
There has also been
American Cocker Spaniel Club Winners

Ch. Harlanhaven Happy As A Lark
Ch.Harlanhaven Harrigan
Ch.Harlanhaven Handsome was a
"Top Producer" (Schlintz System)from 1971 to 1973

A third generation Top Producer,
as well as a
Top Ten Variety (Schlintz) winner in 1968 & then the
Sire of a Top Ten Variety Winner.
The "Harlanhaven" bitches have had their share
of fine achievements not only
as Winners, but as Producers.
Ch.Harlanhaven Helter Skelter (black & white)
was a Top Producer in 1967
she produced
8 Champions for Betty & Dick Duding
"Candylane Prefix"
including their Ch.Candylane Coquette
the dam of 9 Champions herself.
Champion Harlanhaven Hextrodinary
was the foundation for
"Terje Kennels" owned by Jeff Wright.
In the 1980's Harlan felt the time
had come for an outcross so he
aquired the plush & fancy Red dog
Champion Mojo Mighty Mack aka "Mack"
he had bone & substance a profuse heavy coat.
He was sound & topped it off with beautiful head
with large expressive eyes that epitomised the spaniel expression.
"Mack"
did visit Hawaii for a short time
to do some siring but returned to the mainland.
Carol Muira from "Streamside Kennels" owned
Champion Harlanhaven Hennessy a lovely Silver Boy
"Mighty Mack" was the also sire of the imortal
"JOSH"
CHAMPION HARLANHAVEN HIGH AND MIGHTY
Josh was co owned with Carol from "Streamside"
"Josh" went on and produced
64 Champions
He ranks 16th In Breed History
5th In ASCOB

Many of the prominate ASCOB Kennels such as
Darkehaven, Sham-O-Jet's, Gazon,
Sta-Mar, Krismyth, Lydgate, & Streamside,
just to mention a few have gained from incorporating that
"High and Mighty" influence
Donna Harrington from "Dal-Mars Kennels"
was showing at the time the glamourous Red & White bitch
Harlanhaven Heavenly Bliss
she put forth a suggested mating for
"Bliss"
it was that she bred to
Ch.Terje Thunderbolt.
"Thunderbold" was sired by Ch.Dal-Mars Billy Jack.
"Bliss" herself was sired by Billy Jack with "Josh"
Ch.Harlanhaven High & Mighty being used as an outcross.
"Billy Jack's grand dam "Bancu Faith & Berrough" carried
many of the early Harlanhaven parti breeding
Harlanhaven's Heavenly Bliss was a
Ch. Harlanhaven High and Mighty grandaughter
the mating took place hence
Ch.Empire Brooklyn Dodger
"Dodger" is the "Top Producer" in Breed History.
We now look towards the "Future" with our new
"Show Hopeful's"
All of course carrying that unmistakable look of
"High and Mighty"
