ADDING CONNECTORS & COMPONENTS

HOME

Connectors & Components are both symbolic representations of objects to which you connect wire & cables. Connector represents physical connectors, Whereas components represent electromechanical parts & components.

Most of the parameters used for the connectors are also used for components.

Below are the list of parameters that apply to both connector & component:

#OBJ_TYPE : Specifies the object type (CONNECTOR & COMPONENT). This is read only and varies based on what you are defining.

# REF_DES: Specifies the reference designator name.

# MODEL_NAME: Specifies the name of the reference solid model.

# GENDER (CONNECTORS ONLY): Specifies MALE or FEMALE gender.

# NUM_OF_PINS: Specifies the number of pins used by the connector for Connecting the wires

COMPONENT & CONNECTOR PARAMETERS

NOTE: You must specify the ENTRY_PORT parameter in order to perform auto routing. If it contains the name of the co-ordinate system on the physical model that represents this pin, you can automatically designate the co-ordinate system as entry

CREATING CONNECTORS

There are two types of connectors used in pro-diagram.

They are parametric connectors & fixed connectors Parametric connectors are of standard shape defined by pro-e, whereas fixed connectors should be defined by the user as a symbol.

PARAMETRIC CONNECTORS: Parametric connectors are defined by Pro-E, there are three types parametric connector:

1. Male connector

2. Female connector

3. Inline connector : This connector is a combination of male & female connector with unique reference designator and identical number of pins

The modification of parametric connector can be done at any point of time Of creation of diagram.

TYPES OF PARAMETRIC CONNECTOR

FIXED CONNECTORS: Fixed connectors are defined by the user only, they are created as symbol by using lines, sketch & nodes. This symbol should be assigned as connector and then retrieved in the diagram, otherwise the user will not be able to route wires from this connector.

COMPONENTS : Components are electro-mechanical device defined as symbols which are created by the user, consisting of defining parameters & nodes, they are very much similar to fixed connectors the only difference is, the components do not have any gender.
