About Serves A girl will have to do a serve of a drink, and perhaps a meal in testing. There are several steps to a serve. (1) Acknowledging the order to serve. (2) Moving to the serving area (slave wagon). (3) Selecting an appropriate vessel and describing it. (4) Checking the vessel for perfection and cleaning it. (5) Selecting the beverage (or food). (6) Moving from the serving area back to the Master. (7) Kneeling, and kissing rim of the vessel as it is offered. Actual pouring of the drink can be done at stage #5 or at stage #7. It is often a girls option with most beverages. A serve is a picture painted with words. a girl should be descriptive of herself and her movements. she should think about how she would move realistically and make her serves her own. It is fine to watch sisters serve and learn from them, but a girl should not "borrow" directly from them. A few additional notes: (a) Serves are NEVER cut and pasted. a girl should strive to make each original. (b) Once a girl is out of kettle and in her training silks, she will be expected enter, offer her greetings, then promptly begin to offer serves to each Member. The offering of serves is placed above all else. if her offers are turned down, she should proceed to do chores. (c) A girl should back away from a Master or Mistress after she rises and acknowledges the order to serve. some girls back away 3 steps, some girls just back away. It is each girl's option which she does, but backing away is a sign of respect. (d) In Harigga, slaves do not offer to test drinks for poison. the food and drinks of our Camp are safe to serve to members and guests. To even imply that poison might be present is an insult to Ubar. However, if a guest requests this of a girl, she should comply without question and perform the test. (e) Heated serves, or drinks served in vessels coated with "slave honey", are usually not done in Harigga and a girl should not make it part of her offer to serve. Again however, if a guest requests this of a yellow silk camp girl, she should comply and do it without question. (f) On the matter of same sex serves; if a yellow silk girl is serving a Mistress, it is acceptable for her to serve in tower position unless the Mistress specifically requests her to serve nadu. A girl should always strive to be pleasing.
