"`Masculinity and femininity are complementary properties,' I told
her.`If a man wishes a woman to be more feminine, he must be more
masculine. If a woman wishes a man to be more masculine, she must be more
feminine.'" --p.205, Explorers of Gor
These rooms are based on the psychosexual philosophies espoused
by John Norman. Through the creation of a fictional counter-earth known as Gor,
Norman explored what he saw as the fundamental relationships of
gender.
It is clearly evident when reading Norman that his philosophy
rests on the twin ideas of one dominant gender and one submissive gender,
combined with the law of survival of the fittest. In general, on Norman's Gor
this is dominant male and submissive female, although the reverse is not
completely unknown. While the world of Gor is fictional, the philosophies and
belief systems that this fictional world is based on are tangible, real, and
livable for many people. Norman's belief system of dominant Master and
submissive slave has a natural link to the BDSM world. Many of those interested
in this way of life are drawn to the Gorean lifestyle found in on-line Gor
chatrooms.
Those who call themselves Gorean Masters must clearly
understand that for many submissives on-line, it is this absolute Master/slave
relationship that is attractive about this lifestyle. It must be further
realized that for many of them, this is a way to live out their submissive
needs. These submissives have real-time needs, desires, cravings, and most
importantly feelings that get involved in this virtual-time Gorean
lifestyle.
When a command is given on the computer terminal, many of
these submissives will translate that command into real-time. As the on-line
relationship develops, those who call themselves Masters must ensure that there
is a clear understanding between Master and slave about what is actually
required of the slave in real-time, for in the Gor rooms, the submissive seeks
total domination, and finds ultimate satisfaction in complete slavery and
servitude. The Master must also ensure that the kajira is clear on EXACTLY where
the relationship can go; if it is only a vt relationship, that needs to be made
ABSOLUTELY crystal clear. Similarly, it must be remembered that on Gor, most
Masters will eventually have more than one kajira. In BDSM rooms, the adding of
a slave's initials indicate an rt commitment; while this is not common in Gor,
if One puts initials behind One's name, MAKE CERTAIN that the kajira again is
clear on exactly what that means to the Master. Do not use initials behind One's
name for reward or punishment, and do ensure that the kajira knows what that
commitment means to One.
This is especially true for the male submissive
who comes to Gor. Many of these male submissives have both real-time and
virtual-time experience in BDSM, and find themselves drawn to the harsh, strict
code of male submission in a male-dominated world. This is not a cozy BDSM
scenerio with a strict but loving Mistress. This is Gor: it is painful, it can
be humilating, and it is total submission with none of the cute pouts, tearful
expressions and adoring looks that you may find elsewhere. Rarely does a Master
call His kajira dear or sweetheart; she is girl, or slave, or some such. Male
slaves in general are abhorred by other Males; to a Gorean Master they are less
than human. A Gorean Master truly has no concept of male submission and a male
slave on Gor has no concept of being a Master. He has the fire in his belly to
serve, to be dominated totally, to be slave both publically and privately. If
You don't understand this need or don't wish to provide this level of
domination, if You are simply role playing the role of Master/Mistress, if You
seek to be a Free Woman/Companion in public and a "girl" in private then
leave the subs to serve sexually Those who can give them what they seek!!! Do
not ask them to betray their slave bellies!!!
While this is an online world and the
lives lived here are lives of the mind, the feelings engendered for many of the
people who live here are real. In the Gorean chatrooms they seek what they
cannot find, are afraid to search for, or lack the ability to cope with in their
own real time lives. If You seek to play out a role, or if You see this on-line
world as a game, that is Your business, but be aware of the responsiblities You
take on to others who live in the same place You do, even if it is only for a
few hours a day, week etc. Computers are machines, that is true, but they
require people to run them. You are not playing an interactive game though it
may seem like it at times. THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE. Be aware that Gor
is a belief system and much more than a game. If You are looking for dungeons
and dragons with a bit of cyber sex thrown in for spice: GO SOMEWHERE
ELSE!!
