Newyork                          Ravikumar H

The statue of liberty watched in shock.
As the airliners tore through American pride.
Its vision turned red, and in moments black,
As destiny took America on its death ride.

Americans rode in their hearts, the gusty feeling,
The world was theirs, America the invincible!
Minutes of slack in the wings of intelligence,
Reduced the heaven into stone and rubble.

The American pride fell, as did their spirits;
Ego's were wounded, supremacy given a blow.
The' city that never sleeps' froze in pain,
As smoke invaded her, and then the rain.

But the statue still held aloft the torch,
Of pride, hope and everlasting courage.
As if to say, forget the evil, forget the pain,
New York will breathe life once again.

Past

The dusty wind raged, trees shook in fury;
The cremation ground found life again,
The eyes slowly opened, as it awoke;
From the long slumber, into the memory lane;
I traced the footsteps of the past, plucked;
Branches out of all the dead trees I saw,
Fallen leaves with tainted edges on the wayside;
Turned green, as the mind took them on a ride;
The doors of the past slowly opened;
Each one led to another, I kept opening;
With the curiosity of a child, on the look;
My mind brushed every page of my book;
The pages unfolded, heart felt an inner calm;
As I relived the autumns and springs again;
As I walked back the road of my memory lane.
I found cool winds and trees soaked in rain.
