Oh! My country men, lend me your 2K disc space!
We have often seen many people condemn anything that is Indian and list its shortcomings. Their list is endless : we have corrupt politicians, there is sectarianism, nepotism, religious chauvinism and so on. This is my answer to all them.
We may have corrupt politicians, but remember we had Mahatma and other great leaders and still have many visionaries.
You say there was Gujarat and Ayodya and many other things, but we have erumali where followers of different religion co-exist in a wonderful manner. To an average Indian who is not given to extremist views, know that religion is only a path, not the destiny. Different people will take different path according to individual attitudes and capabilities. I would like to condemn the media in the strongest possible manner which give into sensationalism, without bothering how it will affect the socio-secular fabric of the country and sensitivities of the people. If we keep on asserting our limitations, how in our wildest dreams can we achieve development? Remember when there was 9/11 tragedy the western media didn’t show us even a single dead body.
Let me make a few points regarding Mahatma. I wonder people who don’t even have the credentials to take his name criticize him and point out some petty flaws. I suggest them to have introspection before making any further comments. That tendency is also seen in some commercial movies, in which Gandhiji’s flaws is shown just to highlight the hero. But they forgot that they were counting on his virtues only. They blissfully forgot how much willpower is needed just to stick to one of his virtues. My intention is not say that we achieved independence solely because of him or his is policies were sacrosanct. We achieved it because of the collective effort of great many people. But intention is to pay respect to the great man of wonderful virtues. Want to be politically motivated? Only a double click away from you.

We may have people involving in defense scandals, but we should remember that there were thousands of jawans who laid their lives for their country. Even though the enemy soldiers were holding strategically important position during Kargil war, our kargil heroes moved forward despite showering of bullets and recaptured the lost points and again our pyara tiranga started fluttering there. Do you think it is because of some highly sophisticated weaponry in their hands ? No , it was a matter of attitude and will, nothing else. Want to feel the adrenalin rush ? follow the link

It’s not the time to frown over things that we don’t have, but to move forward affirming what we have. Please don’t do an escape act by saying that system itself is corrupt and I can hardly do anything. If this is thought one have I have only one thing to say “Check your premises”. Ours is a culture rooted in self-esteem and not on self-pity. Development is not the result of brooding over shortcomings, but by the consistent effort for achieving great goals backed by optimism.
My effort was not air some chauvinistic or jingoistic views; or rather condemn everything that is foreign. But just to tell that ours is a great nation. And we can do a lot by our collective effort and good will. We may have limitations, but nothing can stop us from achieving our aims with our collective will. I would wind up with the quote of my loving friend Thomas “Tough situation never persists, but tough people do”.
