a( 1+ ßt) = GOD ???
First let me explain the inherent limitations of mathematics and why we could not explain GOD with mere mathematical equations. All the branches of science are formed from prepositions that is not susceptible to proof or disproof, i.e. axioms. For eg: probability theory or stochastic process is formed from 4 axioms (I don㦙 like to list them for brevity), Group theory from some 9 axioms. In Physics also we can see this. This is the foundation stone from which the whole theory has sprung up. Once you accept this, you are allowed to enter into the altar of ecstasy of science.
Let me try to explain the profound crisis that shattered the scientific complacency in the start of last century. It was the period of the greatest mathematician Poincare. Euclid𠏋 come up with a set a postulates which formed the axioms of geometry and every thing seems to be fine until the gentleman from Germany Riemann came up with his own. Mathematics, the corner-stone of science suddenly became uncertain. It is worth noting that there were no internal contradictions, but an inconsistency. Which one is right? Poincare answered it wonderfully. Let me explain in terms of polar and Cartesian co-ordinates, which one is right and which is wrong? Both are right it depends on the situation, it is our experience that while solving intricate field problems it is convenient to use cylindrical or spherical one. It𠏋 a matter of convention, convenience.
So while proving a theory in a mathematical frame work we assumes that it satisfies the axioms also. As my prof. says, 100 examples can㦙 prove a theorem, but a single example can disprove it. Examples can only illustrate a theorem, it can never prove it. This is the lacuna, this is the discordant string in it. It cannot explain things beyond the purview of axioms. How can the mathematics with these inherent limitations try to explain GOD?
Nobody in this world can show us GOD or can define GOD. If anybody or some book makes such claim, it is nonsense. Any scripture or Spiritual leader can only show us the path, not the destiny. If we dare to take such a path with full faith and zeal, one is sure to reach Him. Let me make no further comment on this, I fear I𠑥l deviate from the core point.
Regarding the statement in scripture 𧗽s as inaccessible as moon. I think we should not take its literal meaning. The idea of a scripture is to convey the spiritual truths in a most simple manner, comprehendible even to a layman. So it invariably uses analogies, here we should take inner meaning of it. The usage may be archaic and obsolete, but ideas are still pertinent.
I have some comments about Man𠏋 expedition to moon, his attempts to go to Mars. These are social issues and I will be digressing from the fulcrum of discussion. I sincerely don㦙 think there is so much in those to boast.
Let the science reign with full glory considering its limitations. It can bring about tremendous material growth, but can㦙 give inner peace and tranquility. But what if science and spirituality go hand in hand, complementing each other. I think that will be great. And this is exactly I would like to see. Man evolving materially but never being enslaved by technology. A world full of love and, the technology and nature blends together like the threads a slik saree, with science giving its beauty and nature(spirituality) its strength.
