| I seek the power of creation. Fiat lux, the first cause, the Beginning. I wish to simulate the offices of god. Simulacrum, homunculus, golem, servitor: these things are fascinations of mine. The ability to create unassisted a self-contained universe, life at my fingertips, the very stuff of ambrisia. I cannot help but believe that divinity is attainable in my lifetime. The duplication of consciousness on a smaller level is a valid undertaking in Kabalistic lore, along with several other mythologies. The possibility is also logically justifiable. After all, "Who made God?" is a common question and this could possibly explain it. If something created God as a part of an independant universe, and God created his own independant universe, doesn't it hold to reason that we would be able to do the same? Either on a computer or in a sealed container filled with blood and semen as in occult lore for the creation of the homunculus, it should be entirely possible. At least, in theory.
This desire has manifested throughout history. Faust had his Homunculus, Rabbi Judah bin Loew had his Golem in Prague, Pygmalion had his Galatea (or Henry Higgins has Eliza Doolittle, however you want to look at it), Phil Hine has his sigils and egregores, and most mythologies have human-like gods that create humanity. In this light, I guess, my desire to create something lasting can be explained. Add to that the fact that I won't be having kids anytime soon and maybe you can understand this desire. In another line of thought, is it possible that the choirs of angels are the survivors of previous existences that God has drafted into his service? The seraphim would've been the first, and each successive generation of realities would push them higher up the chain until they merge with god. Thus, the good Christians in this realitiy would be like the angels, the angels would be arcangels, and so forth, pushing the seraphim into closer contact with God, who absorbs them into his essence? Just a thought that has been floating around in my head for a while. |
