61. THE PENTAGON SPY
FOREWORD
WHEN valuable antique weathervanes are stolen in
Pennsylvania Dutch country, Frank and Joe Hardy
are hired to catch the thieves.
Meanwhile, their famous detective father is busy
with his own investigation. The Pentagon asks Fenton
Hardy to find a missing Navy employee and a top-
secret government document.
The Hardys join forces. From here on, strange
things happen. The more clues they turn up, the
more endangered their lives become. The ruthless
gang remains elusive while threatening the young
detectives wherever they go.
What is the connection between the missing
weathervanes and the Pentagon spy? The final
chapters of this thrilling mystery uncover a stunning
revelation as America's greatest young detectives do
what they do best!
A FEROCIOUS, wolf-like creature appears during
the night of the full moon in a small Adirondack
town, attacking livestock and scaring many of the
residents. John Tabor, a young man with a history of
werewolves in his family line, is suspect. Frank and
Joe Hardy are hired to clear the young man's name.
At the same time, Fenton Hardy requests his sons'
help on a case of industrial sabotage. The Hardy
Boys, with the assistance of Chet Morton, tackle their
assignments with gusto and find themselves face to
face with danger wherever they go. Joe barely escapes
a horrible death as the young detectives battle their
unscrupulous enemies before finally solving this
exciting and hair-raising mystery.
SHORTLY after his arrival in the United States, a
Japanese business tycoon mysteriously disappears.
Mr. Hardy, who had been entrusted with the man's
security, is baffled and shocked. He feels even worse
when the FBI takes him off the case.
However, his sons, Frank and Joe, are there to inves-
tigate. A valuable samurai sword, said to have belonged
to the missing tycoon's family for generations, is stolen
from an auction gallery in New York, and the boys
suspect a connection. One clue leads to another, and
danger confronts them constantly on their search for
the solutions to the puzzle.
Who are their enemies? Did the criminals kidnap
the missing businessman, or did he hide of his own
volition? What
is the secret of the stolen samurai
sword?
FENTON Hardy asks his sons Frank and Joe to investi-
gate the disappearance of an eighteen-year-old girl.
He suspects that she has joined a sinister religious
cult called the Children of Noah.
A few days later the boys get an offbeat assignment
from a New York comic book publisher. One of his
characters, Apeman, is featured in a popular TV
series. However, Apeman's double, a real life gigantic
brute with bulging muscles, has been turning up
everywhere - at private parties, in people's back-
yards - causing considerable damage. Is this double
a prankster, or is he involved in a more menacing
plot?
Frank and Joe tackle both cases and uncover an
intricate scheme by a clever gang of crooks. The
Hardy Boys match wits with these criminals in an
exciting and action-filled confrontation.
