| Bart Worth, the owner of a small-town newspaper in Georgia, requests the Hardy boys help in uncovering information needed to win a lawsuit. A story had leaked out in the paper that, while believed to be true, slanders the prominent Blackstone family. Samuel Blackstone had filed the suit which threatens to close down the Larchmont Record, unless Frank and Joe can find lost ancestral documents backing the paper's claims. The Hardy boys, along with their friend Chet Morton, travel to Larchmont, Georgia to investigate on behalf of the newspaper. The Hardys learn of an ancient family feud between the Blackstones and the Rands. The only living heirs, Samuel Blackstone and Professor Ruel Rand are both searching for the lost family treasure as well, so the old fight is alive and well! The boys discover clues to a secret harbor which used to be part of a pond on the Blackstone/Rand estates. During their search for the hidden papers, Frank and Joe encounter a sinister group trying to thwart their efforts, hungry crocodiles, a hurricane, and a man-sized swamp monster! |
