One day workshop on the use of the Hardy Alumni Association web site

A one day workshop on the use of the Hardy Alumni Association web site was held on the 2nd of September. Members of the the Hardy Alumni Association were introduced to basic Internet concepts and on how to use and navigate the Hardy Alumni Association's website, which incidentally, was also launched on the same day.

The photo on the right shows Mr. Suresh Perera (Vice-President, Social and Recreation), enlightening the participants on aspects of the HAA-SL website. There were about 30 participants for the one day workshop, which was conducted at M/s Wetherby Training Services (Lanka) Ltd. in Ratmalana.

This annual event was held on 6th December 2000. The high lights, of the show were:

The Live Band was organised by Hardian Brigadier Vajira N. Wijegunawardane. A significant number of Hardians from very early batches who were holidaying in Sri Lanka came for the party including a past President, Mr. Kolitha Herath. But, the presence of 'young agri-colas' were not much.

Please contact us for photographs or video recording of proceedings. The Committee thanked the members who helped collect advertisements to a value of nearly Rs. 200,000 for publishing the Executive Diary 2001.

Independence Day Celebrations

Celebrating the Independence Day of Sri Lanka

President Col. Premachandra hoisted the National Flag accompanied by members, their wives and children at the centre. This was followed by partaking in a meal of Kiribath, Short eats and plantains etc.

  
Training Programme

A supervisory Training Programme, based on Industrial Management principles was conducted for a group of six persons from Amico Ltd; a fairly large ‘ Packaging’ company based at Ratmalana. The Hardy Centre was left with Rs. 19,000/= after all expenses were covered. Hardians Anver Azhar, Ananda Karunarathne, Sivakumaran (Tall), Thiagarajah, Milton Devendra and Suresh Perera handled this Programme. They did not take any fees for their time and efforts. Col . Premachandra, Ekanayake, Paiva Theva and Kithsiri provided support for making this programme a success. The Amico Management have expressed their appreciation for the quality training imparted by the Hardians. All  Hardians who come across organizations requiring “ Tailor made training Programmes” please contact our President Col. Premachandra. We can provide quality training while getting a reasonable return for the Hardy Centre. You may be a resource person relevant to your field.

 
Prof. Hardy Commemoration Day

Prof. Hardy's  37th death anniversary was commemorated on 3rd December 2000. Chocolate sweets and toys were distributed to the Children at Mother Theresha's Home, Rawatawatta.

The commemorative lecture was delivered by Hardian Mr. A  Thiyagarajah.
