'Sing along' Party & Batch Re-unions
A sing along party was held at Hardy Centre on 02nd March 2002. This was such a huge success that the crowd that graced the occasion, was far in excess of what the organizers had bargained for. With two sets of musical bands in attendance, the singing was of the highest quality. This was an unforgettable night , as Hardians of all ages sang and enjoyed to their hearts content.
The youngsters, some grand children of Hardians presented, some beautiful songs, of which "Run Tikiri Sina" stood out. The older Hardians, some Vice Patrons, Past Presidents, Trustees too gave their vocal cords a full workout with their renditions of "You are my sunshine" etc. The Hardy ladies too did take second place. They got into groups and sang some ever - popular favourites such as "Isurumuniya" etc. The crowing moment was when all Hardians got together, held hands, danced and sang "Lowe Sema" which made our theme for the night. "togetherness", a reality.
The Hardy batches of 69/71, 70/72 and 71/73 had their re-unions at this occasion. Lecturers at that time and Hardians from Anuradhapura, Kurunegala and Kandy of these batches were also present. This brought back nostalgic memories of days spend at the Hardy Institute.
The Katubedda NDT's too had their batch re-unions on this day. We thank them for their presence as we enjoyed every minute of their company.

Haa Raffle 2002
A raffle was held to raise money for the Hardy Centre Building Fund. The idea was initiated by Mr. Lal Bopearachchi. Thanks to the generous support of all Hardians, it was concluded as a success. Prizes to the value of over Rs. 80,000/= were distributed and the building fund received a good profit. A special mention and word of thanks must be made here, about the untiring efforts of the President, Col G.C. Premachandra who almost single handedly managed to pull it off.
If you were present at the "Sing-along" party, you would know that we did have a small 'hick-up' in not being able to draw the winners on 2nd March 2002 as promised. This was due to the fact that most members returned the counter foils of the tickets sold, a few minutes before the scheduled draw. Anyway all well that ends well. We had the draw on 24th March, after a complete audit, in the presence of HAA members and their wives. All winners have been officially informed. Most gifts have now been collected. Our thanks to Mr. A. Abeywikrama (70/72 Civil Batch) who donated his winning prize back to HAA, Mr Kutila Katukurunda and Mr. Kithsiri Gunawardana for selling the most number of tickets, Hardians and their friends who bought the tickets.

TECH-LEASE EXHIBITION
Work on the Tech- Lease exhibition comes to a halt, with Conventions Asia, the organizer, curtailing their business activities, after the flow of tourists were cut off with the 11th September incident. Conventions Asia retrenched staff, and the remaining persons were unable to handle the exhibition.
Attempts to restart the subject with another company called CDC conventions has not been successful; as they will be able to devote time, to our Hardy Project, only after November 2002.
In the meantime, we are trying to contact a company named YORK conventions only with definite indications of a strong economic recovery in the near future; We can expect to get required minimum of six sponsors. Further Mr. Lal Bopearachchi is studying the possibility of conducting an exhibition without the services of a conventions organizer.
