The
Hardy Institute, Ampara, is celebrating its Golden Jubilee.
The Hardy Alumni Association is planning a series of events on 7th,
8th and 9th July 2006. The main event will be a function
on 8th July 2006 at 3PM at the Institute Auditorium at Ampara.
We have invited a large number of Guests for this function. The
Hon. Minister of Education and Higher Education, Susil Premajayantha
and the High Commissioner of Canada have already confirmed their
participation. We are expecting a large gathering of Hardians including
Hardians from the first batch. Some of the events planned are: an
exhibition of Agricultural items, Agriculture Machinery and Engineering
items, Seminars, Lectures, Competitions, Carnivals, Musical Shows
etc. All Hardians are invited.
A CD-ROM
is in the process of being created including all the photographs on
this site plus lots more, a complete video of Prof. Hardy's funeral,
write-ups and articles, and a comprehensive membership database.
This CD will be available for sale shortly. Please contact us for
further information.
A one
day workshop on the use of the Hardy Alumni Association web site was
held on the 2nd of September. Members of the the Hardy Alumni
Association were introduced to basic Internet concepts and on how to
use and navigate the Hardy Alumni Association's website, which
incidentally, was also launched on the same day. Photos of this
event will be posted to the website as soon as possible.
A video
of Prof Evan A Hardy's funeral was posted on the website of the
Hardy Alumni Association. Due to bandwidth constraints of the
internet, the quality of the video on the website is a tad low.
However, the video does give a preview of the digitally enhanced and
edited video that is slated for release on CD-ROM by HAA in the near
future.
