Hardway Shines, goes to
16-2
Hardway Volleyball returned to the sand once again this
past Wednesday, and although there were some minor changes, everything else
remained the same. The most notable
change was the return of original Hardway member, Cody Murray, filling in for
an absent Matt Simpson. "It felt
good, getting back in the sand," Murray said, "thankfully, I wasn't
too rusty, and I didn't disrupt the winning ways of this team."
The first game saw a rare occurence, but one that didn't
surprise Hardway in the least; the other
team didn't show up, causing a forfeit.
"(They) probably saw who their opponent was, and decided not to
show up, I to be quite honest, I don't blame them," said Justin Park,
"but it would have been nice to get a little workout in."
In the late game, there was a fear of Hardway coming out
slow, having waited for over three hours, but any and all fears were ended once
they took the court. The opponent, Spike
That, put up a gallant effort in the first match, but lost, and the rest of the
game was academic. Crisp sets,
consistent hitting, a good communication added up to a winning formula as
Hardway swept Spike That, three game to none, pushing their overall record to
16-2 on the season.
