Friday Afternoon
The Primitive Baptist Ministers and Deacons Association met with
the Mount Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church on Friday, February 27, 1998

the Association Chairman. Following the welcome, the ministers and
deacons present formed a circle for prayer led by Elder Charles Taylor.
We then began a time of study of Church Growth and Renewal.
This study, presented by Elders Charles Taylor and Greg Phillips, was
based on materials compiled by Elder Craig Campbell. It was a study of
scriptural responsibilities of the Church (both as a body and the
individual members) in spreading the gospel. As scripture teaches, the
good news of Jesus Christ is declared not only by the preaching of the
gospel, but also by the godly lives of individual members of the Body of
Christ.
The study continued through 5:00 PM, when we adjourned for dinner.
Mount Pisgah Church with help from the Grace Church of Loudon provided a
bountiful meal at the home of pastor Howard Pippin.
At 7:00 PM we returned to the church for worship services. The
services began with a welcome and scripture reading by Elder Charles
Taylor and with prayer led by Elder Lee Price.
A spiritual song service was led by Elder Bill Taylor with Sister
Carolyn Russell playing piano. The congregation sang How Firm A
foundation and The Solid Rock. Sister Carolyn Russel sang a
solo, I Thirst. The congregation then sang What A Friend We
Have In Jesus.
Elder R. L. Mitchell welcomed the congregation and expressed thanks
on behalf of the Association to Mount Pisgah Church for their
hospitality.
Elder Charles Taylor led in prayer. An offering was taken for the
Association Benevolence fund.
Elder Taylor then introduced the speaker for the evening, Elder
Mickey Harris, pastor of the Grace Chapel Primitive Baptist Church of
Huntsville, Alabama.
The congregation sang I Will Follow Jesus as Elder Harris came
forward to preach.
Elder Harris spoke from John 1:15-18, And of his fullness have all
we received, and grace for grace.
Following Elder Harris' sermon, an invitation was given for
membership in any of the churches represented as the congregation sang Amazing
Grace. The right hand of fellowship was given. Elder R. L. Mitchell
made closing remarks and Elder Khomer Beaty dismissed with prayer.
