POOL & SNOOKER
The object of the game of pool is to pot either
all the red balls or all the yellow balls and then to pot the black
ball. Pool can be played between two or more people and most pool
tables are found in pubs. I enjoy playing pool because it is a game
of skill, it requires a lot of concentration to pot a ball with
enough precision and judgement to finish in position on the next
ball. A standard pool table measures 6ft by 3ft.
The rules of snooker vary quite significantly to
those of pool. In a game of snooker, a red ball is first potted
then a colour of choice, this is repeated until all of the red balls
are cleared. Then the colours are potted in the order yellow, green,
brown, blue, pink and finally black. The highest break (score obtained
during a single go) is 147. My highest snooker break is about 20,
so I'm well on the way to becoming a snooker champion of the world.
Snooker is a much more difficult game to that pool, although the
balls are slightly larger, the table measures 12ft by 6ft.
Pool and snooker are both great games to play with
friends since they can be played without interference into conversation
or general socialising (or drinking as teenagers tend to call it).
They are in fact helped by alcohol intake and are particularly popular
games in pubs alongside darts and dominoes.
I have created a snooker puzzle where you must
place the correct ball into the correct place upon the table. Complete
the puzzle correctly and you'll not be entered into a competition
for a luxury cruise around the Galapogos Islands, famous for the
Dodo, well it was but it died multiple times and became what is
known as extinct.
Click on the text of the appropriate colour and
then click on the table where you believe the correct position for
the colour is. Click
