CHESS
I play the majority of my chess over the internet,
I find it a very good format to play on. The frequency with which
I play is very inconsistent, I won't play for 6 months and then
I'll play 20 times a week. My record online isn't very respectable,
all my Yahoo games results can be found at Yahoo
stats. My excuse for being so bad at chess is that the ideal
mind for chess is to be intelligent but not too intelligent, I clearly
fall into the latter category, hence my record.
The great thing about playing chess online is that
you get to play against people from all around the world, I have
played against Egyptians, Kuala Lumpariagions, Turks, Americans,
Australians and many more. Though you may think that Americans would
throw all their pieces at you and think later, this isn't in fact
the case and the Australians don't play backwards.
The fact that I lose so much doesn't bother me
since I get a lot of satisfaction of pulling off an intricate move
especially a move on a queen. Positioning of chess pieces is important
in order to force a piece to be taken. My downfall is generally
that I spend so much time looking at the position of my own pieces
in order to create a move, that I never tend to see the opposition's
pieces in a threatening position.

The yahoo games format

My greatest run of defeats was at least 10 in a row, although it
was possibly as many as 15 but, they were definately worth it after
the satisfaction of winning the proceeding game.
I do sometimes play chess with my friends and family
and despite my record online I tend to completely obliterate them.
I put this down to the fact that I have a lot of practice playing
online and they tend not to. If you feel that you would enjoy playing
chess online, try playing at yahoo chess.
