10 Keys to Raising a SUCCESSFUL Middle School Student
1. Check the "Agenda Book" every night.
2. Ask your child what he or she studied and learned in each class each day.
3. Check your child's bookbag for stray papers and notes weekly.
4. Help your child organize all notebooks and trapper keepers weekly.
5. Go over graded tests and quizzes with your child, and have your child correct any wrong answers.
6. Ask to see the homework before it is put away for the next day.
7. Insist that your child do some sort of academic practice for at least 30 minutes each night. Assign your own writing assignment if you need to.
8. Make sure your child is in bed by 9:00 p.m.
9. Make sure that your child eats a healthy breakfast each morning.
10. Hug or kiss your child every day and make sure that he/she knows you love him/her.
Check for progress reports sent home via your child at 3 weeks and 6 weeks into each marking period.
