Fort Simcoe, Washington

Cannon and log building at Fort Simcoe State Park.

This continues from Yakama Nation.
The fort was home to the U.S. infantry and built in 1855.
It has many restored buildings filled with period furnishings.
The park is an oasis with ancient oak trees, and is
as beautiful as it was strategic.
We have a picnic in the cool shade of the oak trees
before the drive back.

Restored Commanding officer's home at Ft. Simcoe St. Park.
Authentically decorated with furnishings. Open to visitors.
One of many historic buildings at the fort.
