It's Your House
The story is told of a rich man who came to a carpenter with these
instructions: "I would like you to build a house for me to
give to a friend of mine. Use the finest materials; the cost is
of no object. I will return in a few months to claim the house."
During the months of building, the carpenter was sorely tempted
and decided to build a cheaper house, charging the same price. Where-ever
it was possible, he skimped,. He used inferior material and resorted
to shoddy workmanship where it would not be obvious. When he had
finished, he called the rich man and presented him with the key
and the bill. The rich man, after looking it over, seemed pleased
and returned the key to the carpenter with these words: "This
is your house. It is my gift to you in return for all the service
you have rendered me these many long years."
The moral of the story is very obvious and clear. We are building
now the type of body that will be ours for eternity. By following
the teachings of Jesus Christ, we can inherit a celestial body in
the resurrection. If, however, we use shoddy workmanship in building
our character, the results of that workmanship will be outs to possess
for eternity. Remember, we have a life time to do it in, and an
eternity to think about it. Send
this to a friend.
