Attitude of Twins
The mother of twins was very concerned with their outlook on life.
One of the twins was an optimist, the other, a pessimist. She did
everything she could think of to make her son, the pessimist, an
optimist. Finally, at wit's end, she took them to a psychologist.
Now, this psychologist was bound and determined to reverse the
roles of these two boys. He put the pessimist in a room full of
beautiful toys and left him to play with them. He took the optimist
and put him in a room full of stinking horse manure. The psychologist
thought he had it made, the manure was sure to bring the optimist
to tears. Fifteen minutes later, he decided to check on the pessimist.
To his surprise, the boy was sitting surrounded by these bright
toys crying his eyes out.
"What's the matter?" the doctor asked, "Don't you
like these toys?"
"Of course I do," respond the boy, "but pretty soon
I'll have to go home, and I won't be able to play with these toys
anymore."
The psychologist shook his head in amazement, but then remembering
the situation of the other boy, he smiled . . . surely the optimist
would no longer be so happy. He opened the door to the smelly room
and to his horror, saw a big smile on the face of the little optimist,
who was throwing manure all over the place. The psychologist couldn't
believe his eyes.
"What are you doing?" he asked, "That's just a bunch
of horse manure!"
"I know," said the little optimist, "but there's
got to be a pony in her somewhere!" Send
this to a friend.
