Primary Waltz Basics

I. Waltz Step, Step, Close; A three-step action in 3/4
time, in any position and in any direction.
II. Waltz Away and Together Partners waltz diagonally away from each other then
turn slightly to waltz diagonally toward each other.
III. Vine Same action as in other rhythms in waltz time.
1. Standard Vine Side, Behind, Side;.
2. Twirl Vine Lady twirl one one full turn under joinded hands in 3
steps as man vines.
3. Twisty Vine Man crosses behind on second step while lady
crosses in front.
IV. Balances Same action as in other rhythms in waltz time.
V. Waltz Box Forward, Side, Close; Back, Side, Close.
1. Half Box Forward Forward, Side, Close;
2. Half Box Back Back, Side, Close;
3. Reverse Box Back, Side, Close; Forward, Side, Close.
4. Turning Box Forward turning 1/4, Side, Close; Back turning 1/4
Side, Close; and repeated so as to complete one
full revolution. Turn in direction of free foot.

VI. Twinkle Forward, Side, Close; Back, Side, Close.
1. Twinkle Thru Both cross in Front, side, Close;
2. Twinkle Banjo Man Cross in Front (Lady Cross in Back); Side Turning
to BJO, Close; (man's left, Lady's right foot).
3. Twinkle Sidecar Same as Twinkle to Banjo except begins with opposite
foot, (Man's right, Lady's left).
VII. Left Turning Waltz Forward Turning Left 1/2, Side Close.
1. Two Left Turns Forward turning left 1/2, Side, Close; Back turning
left 1/2, Side, Close; Complete one full revolution.
VIII. Right Turning Waltz (right foot lead)Forward Turning right 1/2, Side Close;
1. Two Right Turns Forward turning right 1/2, Side, Close; Back turning
right 1/2, Side, Close; Complete one full revolution.
IX. Thru Side Close Both partners step through in same direction
with the inside foot, face, close;
X. Canter Side, draw (no weight), close;
XI. CHASSE Side, close, side;
XII. Hover Forward, Side, Recover;(Lady Opposite)
1. Forward Hover Forward, forward Checking, Recover;
XIII. Whisk Forward, Side, Hook Behind; (lady opposite and also
hook behind).
XIV. Wing From Semi-Closed position - Man steps forward
right, draws left to right and touches left as
Woman steps forward and across in front of Man
turning to Sidecar, left, right, left;
XV. Telemark MAN - Forward left turning left face, side right
continus turning, forward left;

LADY - Back right on heel bringing left to right
turning on right heal, close left to right,
step forward.
