Ostara Rising
This is my side of what is really happening on our little journey of discovery. Enjoy!
Entry for January 21, 2007

So, here I am in France.  We are in Rouenat the moment and staying with a some very nice people we found on a site that hooks up travellers with hosts in many cities of the world, and its free.  B says more about it on his blog.  We got into London on a very very windy day, galeforce winds.  Fortunately, our pilot was a former fighter pilot and did a great job.  Nevertheless, it was scary and my stomach dropped several times.

We took a bus to Brighton right on the water, where the waves and the wind were in full force.  We found a B&B for the night, slept, then went for a walk through town.  We stopped in a pub and got a beer.  Strangely enough,we met a couple of guys who had built the first earth ships in the UK (you can look them up in google).

The next morning, I got up before B, at 6, took a shower and went for a walk on the beach.  The clouds were turning pink and then the sun came up out of the ocean.  I stood there with my mouth open, laughing.  I just wasnt expcting it, and it was so amazing.  Then I returned for a vegetarian breakfast, homemade by the owners.  B and I then walked around for a long time and eventually took a bus to the ferry (more like a giant ship).  It left at 11:30pm and got into Dieppe, France at 3:30am.  We followed a very nice French girl to the train station to get to Rouen.

B and I walked around townlooking for a tourist center with a map.  I asked many people, followed many signs, and then B sat down in front of a cathedral and I continuedthe search.  I returned to Brian and saw as I was walking toward him that the tourist centerwas a stones throw away from him.  Anyway, we called our hosts, Clément and Amendine, and they are so nice and have been so good to us.

I awoke this morning to three different church bells ringing at 8.  I went out alone and walked the city.  I met B at a café by the Sunday market.  I was drinking hot chocolate and reding A Very Long Engagement and feeling very French.  We then had lunch with Clément and his friends.  Everyone was very friendly.  We had wine and cheese and bread.  Later we had coffee and chocolate while talking about culture and politics.  Then, Etienne, took us on a tour of the city.  B and I then walked along the Seine and made our way back to Cléments house and now I am getting hungry.

It has been so wonderful so far, although I really miss Josie.  I got to talk to my parents and that was really nice to hear their voices.  Brian is learning a lot and it has been trés magnifique!!

Auvoir!
