Baldock Family Reunion Saturday July 2nd 2005

The third Cawdell Family Reunion is nearly upon us . It doesnt seem like five years since the last one. Sadly one or two of our family members have passed away since then but there have  been many happy events also to ensure that the Cawdell Family name will continue.

Our thanks must go to Michael and Christine Cawdell for making the arrangements for this years event. However Michael tells me that he is still waiting for more booking forms to come in. As only a quarter of those booking so far have indicated that they will dine it has been decided to reconsider the meal arrangements and the timing of the event as it appears that some have not booked a meal due to the late departure that would entail.

It is therefore proposed that this years event will run from 1.30 pm until 8pm. Afternoon Tea, Coffee and Biscuits etc will be included and a finger Buffet will be served at 5pm. There will be no charge but Michael would like an idea of numbers for catering purposes. Please reply to Michael as soon as possible as he must know the approximate  numbers attending in order to provide an adequate  Buffet. All those that have booked Dinner will be refunded.

We are also hoping to run our own Bar serving beer, wine and soft drinks at very reasonable prices.

Michaels address is:- 67 Old North Road, Royston, Herts. SG8 5ER

 or e-mail:- [email protected]

Please tell as many of the CAWDELL family as you can.

I must add that both Michael and Christine are not enjoying the best of health at the moment so they deserve a special vote of thanks for what they have done so far and what still remains to be done before and on the day of the reunion.

On a different note I am pleased to say that, at long last, I have completed my book on the “History of the Cawdell Family” and it is in the hands of the publishers and printers at this moment. It is being produced in A4 size and in hardback form. I am having an initial print run of 100 copies but further runs will be possible if required. Publishing a private book is, as I have discovered, a very expensive enterprise. However this has been something that I wanted to do and after my earlier effort in 1995, which many of you did purchase, I decided that a more comprehensive history finally produced in hardback form, would be a worthwhile project. The ‘FamilyTree’ 1644 to 2005  is to be included in pull our form in the back of the book. I am proposing to subsidise the book considerably to try to keep the cost down as far as possible and feel that £25.00 a copy for new purchasers and £12.00 a copy for all those that purchased my 1995 production (which was £13 a copy at cost price) would

be about right. There would be a discount if more than one copy was purchased.

Copies of my book will be available at the Reunion but those not attending should contact me at Homebase ,Ashlake Farm Lane, Wootton Bridge, Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 4LF

or telephone me on 01983 883629. Or email at [email protected] . Please add £1 a copy for P&P. I will pay the balance.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the Cawdell Reunion .......Ron Cawdell (3.7.1927)
