Our feelings on Slaughter
Happy Horsey Inc. by no means advocates the slaughter of horses, however when MAN interveins with the course of nature through over-breeding, MAN must also intervein with population control. Happy Horsey belives that abolishing slaughter will never occur, it is an export that aids in the country's economy and is too profitable for the businesses that conduct the steps and actually slaughter the horses. Painful, but a true statement that this country will never give up the all mighty dollar no matter what actions it takes to receive it, for example- the war in Iraq (we would  hope by now you don't still think we were "liberating" them). Imagine if we were the ones eating horses and how much worse this problem would be. Would we even consider it a problem? We don't fight for the anti-slaughter of cows because we eat them. It is a bit hypocritical and unnatural to say that other livestock should not be slaughtered for nurishment (although we think that if they want to eat them they should breed them specifically for food, as we do with cows and other livestock)

Trying to find the brighter side at least the animals have not died in vain, they still have use as nurishment to populations of distant lands - the same lands that we have charity organizations to feed. The sad part is many of the horses slaughtered would be great companions, while others, old, lame or aggressive may be of better use as nurishment. A horses only wish is to be useful.

We believe the only plausable way to cut down on the amount of slaughter is to make tighter breeding requirements and regualtions so we don't keep making the same mistake- i.e. breeding more than we can use. The slaughter houses did not create this problem, "Profit Horseman" who breed for a living did.

We believe if there is an alternative to auction then more good horses will have a use again with new families. Less will go to slaughter. We urge others to do the same. Don't just wear a purple ribbon and gripe about slaughter, DO SOMETHING, take in abused horses, give them an alternative to auction and slaughter.Call you local sheriffs department and tell them you will accept abused horses if you have the space, knowledge, time and money to care for them until they are adopted/sold.
