Dir en Grey

Dir en Grey
Dir en Grey, often abbreviated as "DeG" or "Diru", as a rock band from Japan that seems to be currently trying to conquer American as well. They have gone through numerous style changes throughout the years, and have stated that they like to expirement with their music. Their visual style has also changed greatly. When they first hit the scene, they could be recogized immediately with their white face make-up, charcoal eyeliner, stripper boots, leather, and fishnets. You get the picture. In fact, here's a picture. As you can see by comparison of this image and the image at the top of the page, they have changed significantly since then. In fact, they refuse to be considered visual or J-rock at all. Their music style has also changed, but they are not hesitant to throw themselves back into their old style. The song structure, regardless of the changes, has never really failed to be genious since their indie days. Although the deep, soulful vocals of the past have been replaced with high pitched squawking, the song structure underneath it is still amazing. I personally just wish that Kyo would start using his voice again, before he get to where he can't
use it anymore. But if you like his screaming, then you like his screaming. It's just my personal opinion that it is a waste of Kyo's vocal talent.
