| The ground crews on Guadalcanal and in the Pacific really were the "unsung heros" of the air war during the early campaigns in the Southwest and Central Pacific. If not for these men, the aces of the ensuing air battles would not have even been able to get off the ground. Pilots were forever grateful to the men of the ground crews to keep the planes serviced day in and day out.
