ORPHANAGE

This was the part that had the biggest impact on me! We went to the orphanage twice, once to share with the children, either reading them a Bible story, or share a short message with them. (I was unfortunately rather sick the first time, and just watched, which was a real disappointment) I watched while Mel spoke with the older girls, which was awesome, she shared with them about
staying pure until marriage. I would of loved to have spoken to them,
but was just not feeling well enough.

Afterwards, we prayed for the girls. And something that we both
noticed was that hardly any of them every asked prayer for themselves,
it was always either for unsaved family members, or sick family
members. It really blessed and touched me, these girls have nothing,
all that they own is stored in a tiny suitcase and they sleep in a small
room with 80 other girls, yet they ask for nothing.

The second time that we were there, we had a good look around. We
went during school hours, where they have people from the village
come in and teach the children. They all loved to have us come into
the rooms and talk with them. As soon as they seen us it was Aunty
aunty, come come. And even though we could not understand them,
and vice versa, they were still eager to try and communicate with us,
especially the older children. The younger ones were a little bit shy,
which was really cute.

There was also a young girl, maybe 12 yrs old, who had stepped on something, maybe a nail or something sharp, and the cut had got badly infected, Pastor John spent sometime cleaning it and this girl, you could tell that she was in a lot of pain, but she didnt cry, she didnt scream, she was very brave, it really touched me.  Most of the children will stay there until they are 18, then they will either be married off or hopefully have a job. But some will stay some will have nowhere to go. While we were there, Pastor John asked a girl something like.. what will you do when you are 18? and she simple said where will I go?. For the children, the  orphanage, is often the only home they have ever known. So, some will go some will stay and some will be equipped for ministry.

Just before leaving, we shot a short video, as a promotional thing, to share
with others about Pastor Johns vision and our vision to partner with him
and help as much as possible. The Orphanage, which started with 2 girls that Pastor John found on the streets, which he took home to his own home and family, has grown to over
500 children, plus a number of smaller orphanages in other towns. His
long-term vision is to have 30,000 children.

As I said before, this was the part of the trip that has had the biggest impact
on me. And while there, God really put a burning desire in my heart to help
these children more. There were so many of them, you just wanted to give
them each a hug, but we couldnt, and that really breaks your heart. They
have a place to live, they have food, but they lack that love from another
person, from a mother or father.

I had to really fight in my spirit about what God had placed on my heart.
That I am to go back there in a few years and work there. I have that
passion and desire to help, to do all I can in that place, but you see the living conditions there, the things that you have to put up with and adapt to, and its just hard. Its hard to think about laying everything you have here, where you are comfortable and have everything you need and go live in a place where.. Where you have the basic essentials sometimes not even that. But I know sometimes you have to do things like that for Christ and if it is His calling, He will prepare and He will supply all. I just want to be obedient to God.

As we were leaving at the airport, Pastor John said to me, that I am
going to be a great missionary. Wasnt something I really wanted to
hear, especially after what I had been fighting in my spirit the time I
was there. But I told him what I was told just before going, that I
was going to be a missionary, and preach to many people and see
people saved, which happened while I was in India but to hear
that it is still to happen!! He said it was a second confirmation!
