We all go through hard times in our life. If we havent already, we eventually will. Whether it be a loss of a loved one, illness, depression, relationship problems, spiritual battles and the list goes on. What ever the problem is, we are bound to want to give up. But we need to remember that in the mist of our problems, God is with us. He never leaves us, nor forsakes us. He is right beside us, guiding us along our paths. We may not feel Him with us and think that He doesnt care. But its at times of trouble that He is closer to us. What ever your problem is, hand it to God. He says cast all your cares upon me, no matter how big or small they are. A lot of people wonder about the mystery or perhaps more accurately the agony of unanswered prayers. The people that seem to suffer the most with unanswered prayer are people that truly believe that prayer can move mountains. If the request is wrong, God says No. If the timing is wrong, God says Slow. If you are wrong, God says Grow. But if the request is right, the timing is right and you are right, Gods says Go. When we are in times of trouble we tend to focus on the mountain (The problem). How big it is and how impossible it seems to remove from our lives. We need to shift our focus from the size of the mountain to the size of the mountain mover. Instead of describing the mountain to the Lord in your prayer, focus on God, the God that can move any mountain of any size. God know exactly what you are going through, these no need to go on about it. Focus on His glory, power and faithfulness. Some request no matter how well intended, are inappropriate. They may be self-serving, paternally materialistic, short sighted or immature. He loves us too much to say yes to that sort of request. Before we bring a request to God we should ask would it bring glory to Him? Would it advance His kingdom? Would it help people? And would it help me grow spiritually? To most of us slow doesnt feel much better than no. We live in an instant society, always living in the fast lane. Children hate to hear not yet and there is an impatient child in all of us. We all want God to start answering our request now, if not yesterday. God delays our request for a number of reasons. Sometimes it is to trust our faith. Can we trust Him if we dont see immediate results? Sometimes its so we can modify our request, over time we may see that our original request wasnt quiet right. Sometimes he delays so we can develop characteristics, those that only come from waiting patiently. We may not be able to see the reason why He has said Not yet. Isaiah 55:8-9 says The Lord says, My thoughts are not like your thoughts. Your ways are not my ways. Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. He knows what timing is best. For each unanswered prayer you should look at both possible hindrances. However if you are faced with quiet a few unanswered prayer, perhaps you need to look at another possible hindrance. May be the reason that your prayers are unanswered, is that there are barriers in your life. Something maybe wrong, between God and yourself. God invites us to come to Him, with all our needs. But some of us have a few things that we need to clear up, before we can take Him up on that offer. Possible things that may be blocking you from God.. Prayerlessness; You got to pray purposely, fervently, expectantly and regularly. You want things, but you do not have them..You do not get what you want, because you do not ask God (James 4:2) Unconfessed sins unconfessed sin cuts us off from God. If you got sin in your life, dont waste your breathe with prayer, unless its a prayer of forgiveness. It is your evil that has separated you from God. Your sins cause Him to turn away from you, so He doesnt hear you. (Isaiah 59:2) Unresolved relationship conflicts So when yo offer a gift to God at the altar, and you remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there at the altar. Go and make peace with that person, and then come back and offer your gift. (Matthew 5:23-24). Be kind and loving to each other, and forgive each other just as God forgave you in Christ (Ephesians 4:32). Selfishness ..Or when you ask, you dont receive because the reason you ask is wrong. You want things so you can use them for your own pleasure (James 4:3). Inadequate Faith You Gotta believe GOD IS ABLE '.....When you ask God, you must believe and not doubt' (James 1:6) But for some reason, nobody knows why, but God sometimes leaves some of our prayers unanswered. But because of Christ ultimate victory, Christians have assurance that those prayers that remain unanswered in this life on earth, will recieve spectacular vindication in eternity. Then God 'Will wipe away every tear from your eyes, death shall be no more, neither shall there be mouring, nor crying, nor pain any more, for the torment has passed away' (Revelations 21:4) (written by Aly) |
