Anhur

Anhur, consort of Mekhit, is closely associated with Shu, often becoming Anhur-Shu. He symolizes the life-giving power of the sun, creative energy of humans, and the hunt. He sometimes becomes a war-like manifestation of Ra. Like Sekhmet, he slays all enemies of Ra. The Greeks, who knew him as Onuris, misinterpreted him as a god of war because he was often depicted wearing a robe, a four-feathered warrior headdress, and carrying a lance. During the New Kingdom, he was worshipped as a savior and ideal warrior. His festivals were often filled with mock battles, and soldiers would pray to him to strike down their enemies, or to protect them from dangers.
