Tsukiji
The Tsukiji Fish Market claims to be the "largest fish market in the world".  There are a dozen other cities that make the same claim, but that's besides the point.  Tsukiji's fish market was closed to the public starting in April, so today you can watch the trucks going in and out of the market, and the traffic cones at the entrance.  The surrounding neighborhood has many sushi bars, piles of discarded white styrofoam boxes, and fish-flavored ice strewn all over the pavement.  Everyone in Tsukiji is in a hurry, so be prepared to dodge vehicles that will drive right through you.  Nearby shopkeepers yell at passers-by about low prices, and crowds will walk right through you; in Japan, there is no custom of saying "excuse me".  If you can get over the smell of fish, the sushi bars specialize in serving fish heads and sperm sacs.
