Lord Ananda Vinayaka Madhya Kailash, Adyar, Chennai

As you travel from Adyar corner to Gundy on the Sardar Petal Road, just after crossing the Bahimham Canal on to the left you will see a small beautiful temple capturing your attention. This temple is known as Madhya Kailas.

It is said that to begin with there was installation of Lord Ananda Vinayaka in the north-east corner of the Regional Labor Institute, Adyar. With guidance of Sri Paramacharya of Sri Kanchi mutt efforts were taken for building a temple for Lord Anand Vinayaka. As a first step efforts were made for transfer of same land for the temple. A land measuring 100 feet by 100 feet was transferred during December 1977 for the temple. Having decided to built the temple to Gaanaapathya Panchayathanam norms, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam was approached for thirty four moolagrahas, which were sanctioned by them.

Madhya Kailas

Thus built temple with Lord Ananda Vinayaka as presiding deity also housed Lord Venkatesa Ananda Vinayaka and kumbhabishekam was performed on 15th July 1984. After completion of other sannadhis as of Gaanaapathya Panchayathanam, in 1990 kumbhabishekams were performed for those sannadhis as well. The 'parivara' deities include Parameswara, Adithyan Abhirami Ambikai and Rajagopala Swami. Mahakumbhabishekam of Madhya Kailas was performed on 9th July 2003

The concept of the unique Aadhyanta Prabhu started just after 1991.

Aadhyanta Prabhu Sri Aadhyantha Prabhu, Madhya Kailash, Adyar, Chennai

What begins has to end. This is nature. If there is one thing that has no beginning or end it is Almighty. If there is one thing that is beginning and/or end in its self it is Aadhyanta Prabhu Almighty. That is why we pray to Almighty by invoking His name thus: adi, aanadi, antham, anantham, anthadi. Whenever we begin anything we offer our prayers to Vignesh, the deity who protects from all hindrances, hence Vignesh. When the things are achieved ie., Jayam we thank the deity Hanuman and conclude. This is observed in all our endeavors, even in offering daily prayer rule is no exception. In the bajana sampradhaya also this is followed. There was an intuition on a fine day that in this temple both these two peerless deities (Vignesh and Hanuman) are seen as one like that of Sri Ardhanareeswara an amalgam of Siva and Sakthi, and Sri Shankaranarayanar an amalgam of Siva and Narayana.

Lord Aadhyanta Prabhu is an amalgam of Sri Vigneshwara and Sri Hanuman representing beginning and end.

After extensive study of such thought with scholars it was decided by the management to transform the conceptual idea into a reality. The Aadhyanta Prabhu was made a reality and installed in this temple. Kumbabhishekam was performed during 1994 for Lord Aadhyanta Prabhu. Today the Aadhyanta Prabhu in panchaloka attracts large devotees.

Offer of worship to the Lord

The prayers and pooja of this unique Lord is very very simple. Nine Tulsi leaves, nine Erukkam flowers are to be mixed and offered at the feet of Sri Aadhyanta Prabhu followed by a Harthi, which is a must. Just no more! We would be dishonest to ourselves if we do not make it clear that everyone has necessarily live out his Karma. Only that, in the process of making the above offering, one facilitates Sri Aadhyanta Prabhu in bearing a very very substantial portion of the burden of the human being, all in His infinite grace, ever ready to protect the devotee.

Next time when around Chennai please collect the unique picture of the Lord Aadhyanta Prabhu available in two sizes, in the temple for offering your prayers.

Festivals

All the Hindu festivals are observed and celebrated in this temple. Vinayaka Chadurthi and Hanumanth Jayanthi pooja in the month of Dhanur are worth mentioning.
