Nettikanti and Sri Vyasaraja

During one of his sojourns near Guntakal, Sri Vyasaraja was camping near a place called Silpagiri now known by the name Chippagiri. He had a dream, in which he was directed by the divine to seek for the idol of Sri Hanuman in a nearby place. Sri Vyasaraja then took upon himself and located a heap of mud in the nearby village which resembled the place he had seen in his dream. He took out a dry neem stick and planted the same on the top of the heap. To the astonishment of all people present the dry neem stick started sprouting. The place was taken up for search and a statue of Lord Hanuman about ten feet was found under the ground. The Guruji had installed the statue in the same place.

Since the neem sprouted that place in the jungle got the name Nettikallu. The Lord Anjaneya consecrated by Sri Vyasaraja Tirtha came to be known by the name Sri Nettikanti Anjaneya Swami.

With the course of time Kasapuram village enveloped the place Nettikanti and presently Sri Nettikanti Anjaneya Swami Temple is said to be situated in Kasapuram.
