Letter
to Shosuro Kenshijo, Demonhunter of the Scorpion Clan and Pheonix Tanto Bearer
Shosuro Kenshijo-san,
There has been a good history between our two clans. Still, there is an old Ise Zumi saying, “Pet a Scorpion and expect to be stung.” But, there are also old legends of an affair involving Togashi and a Scorpion maiden. Regardless, much like other Ise Zumi wanderers, I will choose my own path, knowing that if I follow my heart, I will always have the blessings of Togashi Yokuni. So I choose to trust you, of my own free will.
There is a problem with a person in our ranks. I discovered that he was tainted while we were fighting to save the village. I offered to remove his problem, but he declined, feeling that it “suits him”. I accepted his decision, for I did not know what else to do. The person who left the Emperor’s Palace is not the same person who is with use today. He has become like a rabid badger, quick to fight, always going for the kill. I cannot ignore his recent actions, specifically almost attacking a fellow Tanto Bearer (which goes directly against the Hantei-sama’s wishes that none are to challenge us). I fear for his darkened soul and for our group’s well being.
Since the Scorpions are known for their abilities to work outside of the box, I am coming to you so that you may help me find my way in this matter. The paths I see before me are difficult. I can discuss this with the other members of the party and we can force him to accept removal of the taint. This may lead to blood being spilled, which I would like to avoid. I can go to The Emerald Champion, Doji Satsume-sama and ask for his aid in the matter. With enough show of force and with the Emerald Champion behind us, he will be forced to accept the decision without any blood being shed. My last option is to take the matter into my own hands and forcefully remove it from him myself, come what may. Perhaps a duel would accomplish this. If the Kami’s willed it so, I could knock him unconscious and remove the taint.
My goal no matter what is to remove the taint and to keep our party from the depths of darkness. I would be willing to trust in a person to deal with the taint in his or her own way, but actions speak louder than words. These actions must be reconciled.
Your prompt advice in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Friend Keshijo-san. Please do me the honor of destroying this note, once you have digested it.
Under Lady Sun’s eye,
Togashi Udon, Ise Zumi of the Dragon Clan and Unicorn Tanto Bearer
