My Dearest Toturi,

            It was my foolish desires alone that caused your downfall.  I now understand that the heart of a bushi cannot forgive one such as me.  I pray that in the next life I end up something even less than I was in this life so that our paths are better certain not to cross again.

            If this letter finds its ways into your hands, I would have you know that I was persuaded into my desires and that although my intentions seemed righteous at the time by preserving your life, I in truth, ended your life.
