Civilisations have clashed throughout history. Some people like to ascribe the clashes of the last century all to Darwin and others still find other culprits fitting into their way of thinking. People may become in the near future more aware of their own identity but at the same time there is definitely a 'kindness revolution' going on.

Kindness is clearly something on the increase. It has been booming for quite a while in most parts of the world and whatever the effects of kindness, they seem to be exponential. One kind act leads to a few others and each of these few others tend to lead to a few others. It has been not very obvious that this is going on, since mass media have their primary focus on the bad and the ugly. But soon there may be a rapidly increasing awareness of the real happiness (already in this world but also in the hereafter) that is so closely interwoven with simple acts of kindness.

It may well be that soon enough, people start to realise that kindness is the way to go rather than pure materialism and if the actions of a critical mass of people are dictated not longer solely by potential monetary gains but also by their insight that kindness is the way to go, there may be soon no end to snowballing effects of simple acts of kindness. It looks like we are currently slowly coming to a realisation that kindness is a good thing. We tend to practise it when it suits us. The more we do things in a kind way, the more we will become 'addicted' to the kind approach and kindness may become one of our important purposes in life rather than something to do, only when it suits us.  That may be well the beginning of a real golden age.

If kindness penetrates into societies deep enough, the current wars may well be among the last wars on this earth and the images captured may be well the unerasable evidence of how cruel humans ever were to each other.

This may appear excessively optimistic but optimism (often confused with naievity) may be a much better choice to look at the future than pessimism which is often very badly confused with being realistic. Whatever will happen will be Allah's will and I think our God, the most Great and Merciful, really wants the best.

Let us go on whatever we are doing but be a bit more aware of our role in the "kindness-revolution"

Just to add two cents
I received quite some responses when I put this on the net in USM, pointing out the unkindnesses which are still abundantly around. Below is a brief response to that.
There is indeed quite some cruelty still going on and just as there is a
chain reaction of kindness, there is indeed also a chain of unkindness (one
unkind action leading to another and so on...)

But the nice thing is that every single moment of the 14 or more hours per
day of wakefulness, each of us has the choice to which chain he wants to
contribute (that of kindness or that of unkindness). None of us, humans, are
perfect enough to choose kindess at all (or even most of the) time, but
there are more and more people choosing more and more moments of kindness.
This is giving kindness a certain momentum. This momentum may become soon
(or be already) unstoppable. Who would want to stop it anyhow?
