I applied then with Kaiser Resources Ltd. and got hired on October 23, 1978 as a Heavy Duty Mechanic. Those days the Coal Mines in the Elk Valley were booming and they hired people from everywhere.

| In September 1978 Cassiar Asbestos Corporation went on strike once more. As a newcomer to this country, I never experianced a strike before. Nevertheless, with Renate still working at the snak bar in Cassiar, we decided to make our move to Sparwood, British Columbia.
