| At the Maneuver | In front of the Barrack Window | |||||||||||||||||
| In January of 1968 I was drafted into the German Army, "Die Bundeswehr". I was sent to Hamburg to do my three month of bootcamp. After the three month of bootcamp they transferred us to different platoons. I had to move to Hamburg-Rahlstedt. There I went to work in a shop facility and had a daily job to work on military equipment. It was actually fun to work on big tanks, especially when we could take them for a test run out in the field. Beside working in the shop we had to learn and practice all the military activities like shooting rifles, machine guns and training in the open field. Long marches with all the heavy gear on your back were very common. Maneuvers were always the best times in the army. |
