"One on One" with Zac
12/1/99 (Teen Beat Magazine)

Do your brothers or parents treat you differently now that you're older? Has your curfew changed or anything like that?

Zac: First of all, we really don't have a curfew. And no, I'm not really treated any differently. I've always been treated like I am. We really don't treat each other like we're different ages. As far as I'm concerned, I'm 18, and as far as I'm concerned, Ike is two.

What do your parents do when you misbehave? Do you get grounded? Do you remember doing anything recently that got you into trouble?

Zac: I haven't done anything bad recently.

Are you dating? Do you like girls younger than you, older than you, or about your age?

Zac: Well, I don't know. First of all, I'm not dating. Second of all, I do like girls. I am not a weirdo. Third, obviously somewhere in the same age group. I wouldn't want to date a 30 year old woman.

What is a typical day like for you?

Zac: During the summer usually we would be on tour. Otherwise, it's usually school stuff if there's school, or we just do music stuff. It's really fun for us to perform. This summer we were at an Alanis Morissette show and we're sitting there going, "God, I want to be on tour!" Watching her, you realize how awesome it is to perform and be onstage. Even though sometimes its tiring, It's really, really fun.

Are you still doing home school?

Zac : Yes we are still home schooled. That's just one of the cool things because it's easier to travel, being home schooled, because you don't have to actually go to the school, you can just do it on the road. And Ike's graduating, so that will be cool for him. He won't ever have to do school again.

Do you guys keep journals to record your experiences?

Zac: We do try to keep a journal while were going on the road. And I've actually advanced my memory where I can store 14 million thoughts. So I have a big memory. We also carry a digital camera around with us and a reel camera just to do film stuff.

I know Tulsa is always going to be home for you guys, but is there any other place in the world that you might like to live that you really have a fondness for?

Zac: One place that is sort of cool to go to, but we haven't been too much, is Australia. We went down there for a little bit last year and its a lot like the states, but it's hotter, so that's nice. It's always cool to go to different places. Germany's great, and France and England. There's still a lot of places that I'd love to go, so I won't decide yet.

What place haven't you visited that you'd like to?

Zac: We really haven't gotten to go down to South America as much as we've wanted to. There's a bunch of fans down there that we really haven't been able to perform for and see. We really haven't been to Denmark [where Hanson's ancestors are from] so that would be cool to visit. Or Africa, there's a lot of places.

When you guys go on the road, is there anything you must take with you, something that you just can't live without?

Zac : We like to take a Nintendo or a Sony Playstation to entertain ourselves on the bus.

Is there any one thing that you'd like the public to know about you?

Zac : I am Zac. I come in peace.
