UUNet, recently accquired by WorldCom, was recently handed down this
policy by their new owners.

Salaried personnel are now to be called "essential personnel".

And hourly personnel are to be called, you guessed it,
"non-essential personnel".

This didn't go over well in the "non-essential" departments.
