Blue Skies
Where do the blue skies go when it is dark out?
What happends to those cloudless days when the storms roll in?
It seems like they disappear en route
Before today's tomorrow can begin.
The rain falls and the puddles form
The wind blows and the lightning flashes
A chill fills the air with the approaching storms
As the water comes down in stunningly cold splashes.
There isn't a sunrise or a sunset
Just a darker dark and a lighter gray.
Every action is done in regret
And every morning is the start of an ugly day.
No one wishes upon a star anymore
And no one hopes again.
What's this place called you may ask?
Rock bottom, the gutter, the alley
It has many names as a mask
For what it truly is, a dark valley
Every step comes as an arduous task
It seems like there is no way out
And every turn just leads to dead ends
The maybe's and hopes turn to doubt
As the spirit is beaten and the heart rends.
But there is value in the dark,
In the place without stars.
That's where God can truly leave His mark.
To lift you up out of those holes and heal those scars.
But it isn't till you release the burden of your will
That you can look upwards to see the light
When all you can count on is a God who waits still
When you cry out His name, he comes out to fight
Your defeat and your shame
And turns that hole you were in
Into a mountain in His name.
