Famous portraitist. Worked for Anton Perrenot de Granvela, Bischop of Arras, at the courts of Hapsburg, and painted the most famous portraits of Mary I Tudor, Queen of England.

Worked for Magaret of Austra and Maria of Hungary a the courts in Mechelen and Brussels. He also met D�rer.

Came originally from Estonia. was a pupil of Memling in Bruges. Went to spain and became the court painter of Isabella of Castile and Ferdinand of Aragon. Came back to the Netherlands to work for Margaret of Austria and also worked for Christian of Denmark.

Traveled trough Europe, passing Italy to Jerusalem. He was also a humanist.
