Basement: The full walk-out basement is divided into three parts. Under the original house is an insulated, warm and dry space measuring 23' x 19'.  There are washer & dryer hookups here as well as the oil-fired steam boiler (new in 1997). The second part of the basement is beneath the new addition, this is a fully-insulated garage/workshop space which measures 16' x 19'. It is accessible from the main basement through a fireproof door and to the outside via a 7' x 9' overhead door with electric opener.  Finally, there is a walk-out basement under the entryway and studio area which measures 23' x 10'.  This space is partially insulated and houses the 275-gallon fuel tank; it also serves as a storage area for the lawnmower and outside tools, etc. It has an 8' wide sliding door to the outside. (There is also access to the main basement section through insulated double doors which provide an 8-foot wide opening).
