Recently Chartered Boats
Photos of boats we've chartered in the past five years...
Cat Tales was a MaineCat 30, a delightful open-bridge cat that had the feeling of a cruising Hobiecat.  We had a great spring break in Destin along with the two kids (Mike and friend Davie Wilmot).             04/03
La Vita was a 34-ft Gemini 105-Mc, our first experience with a cruising cat. She sailed very well and with her 18-in draft was great fun to bring right up onto the beach.  This boat opened our eyes to the joy of catamarans.

Catco (left) was a more ambitious catamaran charter.  She was a 38' Lagoon and had four separate double cabins and two heads with showers.  Chartered in the Abacos, we spent a glorious Christmas week with eight family members aboard (including our one-year-old grandchild, Eva).

Looking closely, you can see my daughter Charlotte practicing yoga on the foredeck while her husband, Jerome attemps to fly a kite from the aft deck.  Son Michael is looking on.
Finally, our first attempt at a powerboat charter.  Seahorse was a Mainship 390 Trawler chartered (how did you guess?) in the Abacos.  She was very comfortable for just the two of us, and we were persuaded to that our next boat might well be a trawler.  She cruised reasonally economically a 7 knots, but if you pushed the twin 240-hp Yanmars up to their high speed mode -- about 15 knots -- she was a noisy fuel guzzler.

That's when we started looking at power cats.  The PDQ 34 Powercat offers more living space than this boat, and it also offers the same cruising speed with one third the power and fuel consumption.
