8/25/01 -- Thanks to cleo with a link to these great screen shots from DVD Empire!

8/22/01 -- Thanks to cleo for sending in the following story:

Hannibal Sinks Teeth Into eBay

The infamous Dr. Hannibal Lecter, known throughout the world for the box-office thrillers The Silence Of The Lambs and Hannibal, will make his mark on eBay when several items associated with both films will be sold to the highest bidder to benefit the Video Industry AIDS Action Committee (VIAAC).

Click here to bid on the original Silence poster, signed by Foster and Hopkins! Click here to see all the auctions! Thanks, cleo!

8/18/01 -- Wanna see what the region 1 backs and fronts look like? Thanks to the great Inge from Norway, you can! Click the following for the Silence front AND back! Thanks, man!

8/16/01 -- First, the great Norwegian, Inge, writes in with a new Silence Region 4 DVD review from Michael DVD in Australia.

Also, thanks to cleo for sending in this cool tidbit:

**Tuesday Night Movie Club: Anthony Hopkins introduced a screening of SOTL and receiving an award at the Virginia Film Festival. Writes intrepid reporter John Shea, "The movie is as creepy as ever but it gets just a bit creepier when you're watching Hannibal Lecter do awful things to those two guards and your brain suddenly points out that this guy is here in the building with you. Instant goosebumps."

And afterwards, with Roger Ebert, who apparently forgot who directed Gladiator: "Following the [award] presentation, Hopkins sat down onstage with Roger Ebert for an interview. Perhaps the best moment of that was when Ebert said that Titus (which was shown next) was one of his top ten movies of the year and he couldn't believe that audiences flocked to see "that awful movie Gladiator instead." The audience grumbled and Hopkins smiled and quietly said, "I enjoyed Gladiator." The audience roared with laughter."

I recommend reading this account! It's fascinating!! Thanks, cleo!

08/15/01 -- Many thanks to Inge for sending us this new region 1 dvd from DVDshrine!

Here's another strange but very interesting bit from the great cleo:

**click here for the following story:

"This is so off-topic, but, as Dave Barry would say, I am not making this up: Someone actually preached an Easter sermon around SOTL. "As a profiler, she must bear in her own mind, the pain of the victim and the mind of the victimizer. She must bear the burden of it all at tremendous cost. You can see in her actions the pain of Jesus Christ who took upon His sinless self the sins of the world. Jodie Foster, played the part of Clarice Starling with great feeling, because she, herself, was once the victim of a stalker, the same man who later shot the then-President Ronald Reagan. She journeys into Dr Hannibal Lecter's mind, in order to catch him and prevent any more evil. At Easter, I think about the nature of evil and the silence of the Lamb."

08/13/01 -- A new review sent to us by the great Inge, this one from the DVD bits!

08/10/01 - Thanks to Inge, our prolific scooper from Norway, for pointing us to THIS DVD REVIEW of the Region 4 DVD from dvd.net.au. What's Inge think of it?

08/08/01 -- Huge thanks to G!o from Western Australia who, courtesy of the early Silence and Hannibal release date in Australia, was able to scan these beautiful back and menu images from the Region 4 DVD. A million thanks, G!o!

08/06/01 -- Did you know that real life FBI profiler John Douglas shot a scene for SOTL in which he profiled Buffalo Bill? I didn't! The rockin' G!o of Western Australia was kind enough to scan an article from R4 Reviews magazine which details some of the stuff we'll be seeing in the Silence DVD. Click on the images below to see the whole thing (warning: huge file!). Thanks a mil, G!o!!!

But wait! There's more! Norway's own Inge sends us a Region 1 review of Silence from (one of our favorite sites), DVD File! Thanks, Inge!

08/03/01 -- YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THIS!!! This is a pretty major day for SOTL DVD info. First, we have longtime scooper Kenny, keeper of the awesome Kennyville with his very informal but interesting comments on the Silence DVD. I must warn, there are EXTREME SPOILERS. Read that HERE. Next, we have a treat courtesy of a brand new HP scooper, the intriguingly named Ytse, listing favorite moments from the Silence DVD. This once again has EXTREME SPOILERS, so do not read if you want to be surprised. Read that HERE!

08/01/01 -- The great Kenny has SEEN THE DVD!!! Apparently it has come out already in the Netherlands! I am waiting for his OK to post his review, but let's just say that the extras on this disc are TO DIE FOR!!!! I really enjoyed reading what he had to say (and it only whets my appetite more for the disc) and hope to be able to post it here soon! Here's a little preview:

There's a blooper with Jodie, the scene where she tells Jamie Gumb to raise his hands behind his hips, instead of his head. She can't believe she made that mistake and starts cursing. Pretty funny. :-)

07/27/01 -- Another great promo reel has popped up on the lovable R2 Project! Check it out by clicking HERE. They also have a cool story about the Manhunter DVD, which you can read by clicking HERE. Huge thanks to Inge, Norway's Best, for pointing the way!

The Official Site for Hannibal and Silence DVDs has been beefed up with great sounds, images and miscellaneous. It's flash heavy but those who can't cotton to flash should check out her 34 scanned images HERE! In the meantime, I have reprinted a couple below. Mucho thanks, cleo!

07/25/01 -- Huge thanks to Inge for sending in the following image of BOTH SIDES of the Silence DVD. Feast your eyes!

Thanks to
DVD Street UK.

07/14/01 -- Huge thanks to G!O for this and many other tidbits filling the site today:

"Rumour has it that the SOTL DVD will include a audio commentary by Jonathon Demme, Anthony Hopkins Jodie Foster, Screenwriter Ted Tally and FBI agent John Douglas. The Audio Commentary track was recorded in 1994 for the Critrican Collection DVD.

I have some exclusive stuff for you. The deleted scenes titles and info for the Silence of the lambs DVD:

1. Your self Mini Storage - a longer take of Clarice's discovering the head in the storage. This includes a larger role for Mr Lang, a creepy jangly piano and an eerie moment when she mistakes a tailor's dummy for a corpse. 2. The Preacher - The full version of the show that is playing in the distance on Lecter's TV when Clarice visits him in the psychiatric hospital.

3. Clarice Checks Out a gun - Starling prepares for her trip to West Virginia after the discovery of the 'floater'.

4. Clarice is Learning - Starling and Crawford have a discussion after leaving the autopsy, and she proposes checking the severed head for a moth cocoon.

5. Eavesdropping - A longer version of Dr. Chilton listening to Lecter and Starling. It includes an impressive sequence as the psychopath describes Buffalo Bill's home, and the camera pans around it.

6. Crawford Explains - After the phony offer to Lector, Crawford presents his reasons to his boss.

7. Suspended - An interesting turn of events not included in the film: the FBI director suspends Starling and gives Crawfrd leave. It includes nasty work by Paul Krendler who, later played by Ray Liotta, would have a greater role in Hannibal.

ARGH! Can't WAIT!!!!

07/12/01 -- R2 Project has done it again!!! Check out this outrageously cool second promo. Many thanks to Andy C. Cheers, mate!

7/03/01 -- You got to love this. The R2 Project sent a link to this achingly cool promo for the Aussie release to Dark Horizons. And we present it here. To view, Click Here or right click and download to your desktop! Thanks R2 project and Garth!!!!

Also in the news, a longtime scooper who seems to be some kind of "insider," Fan A sent us these screen grabs this morning. Does anybody recognize them or could they be from deleted scenes? If you know for certain, please drop me a line! Thanks, Fan A!

7/01/01 -- Mucho thanks to the great Garth Franklin (our idol) for linking to this site which, though Australian, has a very cool pre-order offer involving Hannibal and Silence box set (pictured at right)!

06/13/01 - The cool new box image on the top is from today's Dark Horizons but I need to send a shout out to the lovely cleo for pointing the way.

Also, thanks to longtime scooper Kenny for letting us know that Silence will be a 2-box set, out August 1 in Holland. Kenny's site rules, so you should check it out!

Lastly, mucho thanks to the terrific sarniegirl for writing in and telling me that the info about the Silence DVD came from the most excellent DVD Sewer site. Their report follows with a link to the press release about the two DVDs, which DVDsewer was cool enough to post:
