My year in the USA
Between July 98 and June 99 I lived in Indiana, USA. I was an exchange student there, and that was really a dream coming true for me. I traveled with EF and lived with the Rolle family in Rosedale, just outside of Terre Haute. Menu

Here they are, the wonderful Rolles that I stayed with for eleven months. There's sis Mandy, mommy Pam and daddy Mike. And in the very back, me.
Now, for the rest of this page, I could probably write a five-houndred page book about my year, but you wouldn't want to read that now would you? So that's why I'm showing you some pictures and telling you about them. It's easier that way, and I'll probably get a lot told too. Here we go.

The whole reason with me being in the USA was to study on high school. The school I was assigned to was Riverton Parke High School and the mascot was a
PANTHER!!! So I was a proud panther for year, tributing to my school in the band, volley ball team and track team. And of course as a dedicated student.
The picture on the right is taken during the bonfire and contains the people I spent most time with while in Indiana. I'm on the far left, then my host sister Mandy, her bestest friend Betsy and in front Betsy's twin brother Ryan. We did absolutely everything together. They were all in the band with me (Mandy was in the Drill team) so we went on endless parades and band trips together. When me and Mandy didn't have anything to do, we went over to their house and vice verca. Lots and lots of good memories come to me while looking at this picture. And the one below it. It is taken the same night, but with different people. On the left is Caterine from Switzerland and on the right is Kasia from Germany. They were both also exchange students at Riverton with me, and we became very good friends. I played volley ball with Kasia and had four of my eight classes with her. Catherine and me ran together in track and had one class together. I also spent spare-time with these girls who I know will be my life-long friends. The experiences we shared allow nothing else.
Just to make one thing clear. I took about a million pictures during this year. Ok, not a million but defenetly over a thousand, maybe two. If I should put all my favorites here, you would be sitting here for hours while your computer was loading. That's why I only have a few, that tell much about my year. So now you know!
Here are some pictures from my american Christmas. Me and Mandy hanging our stockings, and me with one of me favorite gifts, my letter-jacket.
The pictures above are just funny pictures. Me, Mandy, Betsy and then another friend, Ellen, that I started spending more and more time with as we both were members of the track team, all taken one day at the mall.
The picture on the right is one of my Senior pictures, since some of them included sister Mandy. This was her personal favorite of the two of us, and mine is below.
Most of you probably already figured this picture out, but to make sure, yes, it is from our prom. The theme was Stairway to Heaven, and the people on the picture are from left to right: Andy (from Rockville) and Ellen. Me and Brad, from Turkey Run. Betsy and Jason, also from Turkey Run. And last but not least Johnny and Mandy.
This is my and Brad's prom picture. See the stairway?
The picture on the very bottom is from one of the both happiest and saddest days of my lives. Happy, because it was a great honor to be alllowed to graduate with my American class mates, but also sad since it represented the end of a fabolously great time. This was May 20th and not even a month later I had to go back home to Sweden. Of course that was the idea the whole time, and I did have a lot of family and friends to come back to, but still. It was sad. I couldn't stay away from Indiana too long though, in May 2000 I came back to attend Mandy's graduation and I'm sure I'll come back again and again and again...

Now, for you who spent this year with me. Do you think I have forgotten something important? Like you? Mail me and I'll see what I can do about it.
